Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C134 is a genetically engineered oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) designed for the treatment of malignant gliomas, including glioblastoma multiforme. It is modified to enhance its replication within tumor cells by incorporating the PKR evasion gene, IRS1, from human cytomegalovirus (HCMV), while maintaining safety in normal brain tissue by inducing early interferon (IFN) signaling. C134 works by directly infecting and lysing tumor cells and by eliciting a robust anti-tumor immune response.
