Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C19-A3 GNP is an investigational antigen-specific immunotherapy for type 1 diabetes consisting of an 18-amino-acid human proinsulin-derived peptide, C19-A3, covalently conjugated to ultrasmall gold nanoparticles from the MidaCore platform. It was designed for intradermal delivery by hollow microneedles to promote proinsulin-directed tolerogenic immune modulation and thereby reduce autoimmune beta-cell destruction without generalized immunosuppression. In the completed EE-ASI-1 first-in-human Phase 1a study, three intradermal doses containing 10 micrograms peptide equivalent were administered at four-week intervals; published results reported that the product appeared safe and well tolerated in the small study population.
