C19069 is a small molecule agonist of the orexin receptor type 2 (OX2R), developed as a structurally distinct analogue of C15454 and danavorexton (TAK-925). It is primarily used as a pharmacological research tool to study the modulation of sleep/wake states and to validate discovery platforms, such as high-throughput zebrafish larvae models, for the treatment of sleep disorders. C19069 exhibits potent agonistic activity at both human and zebrafish OX2R, mimicking the excitatory effects of endogenous orexin neuropeptides. In preclinical studies, it has been evaluated for its ability to influence locomotor activity and sleep behavior, particularly in the context of addressing orexin deficiency associated with narcolepsy and insomnia. While it shows comparable in vitro potency to other OX2R agonists, its in vivo activity in zebrafish models has been used to highlight the importance of parameters like permeability and solubility in drug discovery.
