Overview

C1B5 peptide is a therapeutic peptide derived from the C1B domain of protein kinase C gamma (PKCγ). Developed by researchers at Kansas State University, it is primarily investigated for its antineoplastic and immunomodulatory activity in pancreatic cancer. The peptide acts by stimulating the immune system, increasing the expression of cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and promoting the infiltration of neutrophils and cytotoxic T cells into the tumor microenvironment. In preclinical mouse models, the combination of C1B5 peptide and low-dose gemcitabine has demonstrated significant inhibition of peritoneal pancreatic cancer growth without the typical side effects associated with high-dose chemotherapy.
