Drug intelligence / Profile preview
C20T5 Ruby CBD Oil is a medicinal cannabis formulation containing a specific ratio of 20 mg/mL cannabidiol (CBD) and 5 mg/mL delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is currently being evaluated by the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) in a pilot clinical trial to determine the feasibility and acceptability of using medicinal cannabis to manage symptoms in pediatric patients (aged 6 months to 21 years) undergoing palliative care for non-oncological conditions. The oil is administered orally and titrated to a maintenance dose. Its therapeutic effects are derived from the modulation of the endocannabinoid system, where THC acts as a partial agonist at cannabinoid receptors to provide analgesic effects, while CBD acts as a non-psychoactive modulator that may reduce inflammation and mitigate the psychoactive side effects of THC.
