C2C_ASC66 is a standardized, high-diversity live biotherapeutic product (LBP) developed by the Danish biotechnology company Cell to Cure. It is specifically designed to treat Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and comorbid gastrointestinal (GI) disorders by leveraging the gut-brain axis. The product consists of a complex consortium of commensal bacteria derived from healthy donor stool, processed to ensure safety and high microbial diversity. The therapeutic rationale is based on the observation that individuals with ASD often exhibit gut dysbiosis and increased intestinal permeability. By restoring a balanced microbial ecosystem, C2C_ASC66 aims to reduce the production of neurotoxic metabolites and systemic inflammation, thereby improving both GI function and core autistic behaviors. It is typically administered as part of a Microbiota Transfer Therapy (MTT) protocol, which involves a pre-treatment phase of antibiotics and bowel cleansing to facilitate donor microbe engraftment.
