C2K (also known as Charis 2000) is a peptide-based therapeutic candidate developed by Ensol Biosciences for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It is designed to inhibit the Transforming Growth Factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) signaling pathway, which is a critical mediator of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). EMT is a biological process that allows cancer cells to acquire invasive properties, promote metastasis, and develop resistance to standard therapies such as EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors. By targeting TGF-β1, C2K aims to suppress tumor progression and restore the sensitivity of cancer cells to other antineoplastic agents. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical development, primarily focusing on patients with advanced or resistant forms of NSCLC.
