Drug intelligence / Profile preview
sc-214644 (also known as C3a receptor agonist 1) is a potent, selective, non-arginine small molecule agonist of the complement 3a receptor (C3aR). Originally discovered by UCB, this benzeneacetamide derivative is widely used as a research tool to study the complement system, acute inflammation, and immune-mediated pathways. Activation of C3aR by sc-214644 has been shown to elevate intracellular calcium levels, protect pancreatic islet cells against cytokine- or palmitate-induced apoptosis, and potentiate glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. It is primarily utilized as a laboratory research reagent and has not been pursued for clinical development.
