Overview
C4XD IL-17A inhibitor is an oral small molecule targeting the pro-inflammatory cytokine Interleukin-17A (IL-17A). Discovered by C4X Discovery using its proprietary Conformetrix technology and licensed to Sanofi in April 2021, the program aims to provide an oral alternative to existing injectable monoclonal antibody therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. The molecule selectively inhibits IL-17A activity, a key driver in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. By blocking the IL-17A pathway, the drug aims to reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory mediators that cause tissue damage and skin lesions. As of mid-2025, the candidate remains in preclinical development, with Sanofi leading further progression under an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement.
