C595 is a murine monoclonal antibody (IgG3) that specifically targets the protein core of Mucin 1 (MUC1), recognizing the cancer-associated epitope (MUC1-CE) defined by the tetrameric motif RPAP. It is primarily utilized as a targeting moiety in radioimmunotherapy (RIT) and molecular imaging. When conjugated with radionuclides such as Actinium-225 ([225Ac]Ac-DOTA-C595) or Lutetium-177 ([177Lu]Lu-DOTA-C595) via the DOTA chelator, C595 facilitates the targeted delivery of cytotoxic alpha or beta radiation to MUC1-overexpressing tumor cells. This approach is being investigated for the treatment of aggressive malignancies, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and bladder cancer, where it aims to induce dense cellular damage and overcome therapeutic barriers such as hypoxia.
