Overview

CA508 is a long-acting recombinant glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist being developed by Chongqing Chen'an Biopharmaceutical. It is a fusion protein, specifically a recombinant human GLP-1 (7-36) Fc fusion protein, designed to extend the half-life of the peptide and allow for once-weekly subcutaneous administration. CA508 mimics the action of endogenous GLP-1 by binding to and activating the GLP-1 receptor, which stimulates insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, inhibits glucagon release, and slows gastric emptying. These mechanisms effectively lower blood glucose levels and may contribute to weight reduction. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials in China for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and is also being evaluated for obesity management.
