Overview

CA9hu-1 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX), a transmembrane enzyme highly expressed in hypoxic regions of solid tumors. CA IX expression is associated with tumor progression, metastasis, and poor prognosis. The antibody was developed by humanizing the murine monoclonal antibody VII/20 and exhibits strong effector functions including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), antibody-dependent cell-mediated phagocytosis (ADPC), and complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). Preclinical studies have demonstrated that CA9hu-1 inhibits tumor growth and metastasis across multiple solid tumor models, including ovarian, prostate, breast, pancreatic, colon, and lung cancers. It also enhances the efficacy of chemotherapy. CA9hu-1 blocks the function of CA IX in pH regulation within the tumor microenvironment and impairs cancer cell invasiveness. Clinical-grade material has been produced and is currently being evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials for advanced solid tumors. Developed by Fusion Antibodies.
