Overview

CAD-1005 is a first-in-class, selective small molecule inhibitor of 12-lipoxygenase (12-LOX) being developed by Cadrenal Therapeutics. It is primarily targeted for the treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), a serious immune-mediated thrombotic disorder. By inhibiting the 12-LOX pathway, CAD-1005 addresses the underlying immune mechanisms driving the disease, rather than just managing thrombotic complications. The drug has received Orphan Drug and Fast Track designations from the FDA and has completed Phase 2 clinical trials showing a reduction in thrombotic events. Preclinical data also suggests potential applications in metabolic diseases such as obesity and Type 2 diabetes.
