Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cadelius D is a marketed fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by the Spanish company ASAC Pharma. It consists of calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol), formulated as orodispersible tablets. The product is indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis and the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, particularly in the elderly. Calcium carbonate serves as a source of elemental calcium for bone mineralization, while vitamin D3 acts as an agonist at the vitamin D receptor (VDR) to enhance intestinal calcium absorption and regulate bone metabolism. It is available in strengths of 600 mg calcium/1000 IU vitamin D3 and 600 mg calcium/2000 IU vitamin D3 and is reimbursed by the Spanish social security system.
