Overview

The drug combination "cadonilimab + mFOLFIRINOX" consists of cadonilimab (a novel immunotherapy agent) combined with modified FOLFIRINOX (mFOLFIRINOX), which is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily for pancreatic cancer. mFOLFIRINOX is a modified version of the standard FOLFIRINOX regimen, including folinic acid, fluorouracil (5-FU), irinotecan (at a reduced dose of 150 mg/m²), and oxaliplatin. This modification primarily involves the reduced dose of irinotecan (from 180 mg/m² in standard FOLFIRINOX) to improve tolerability while aiming to maintain efficacy. mFOLFIRINOX is typically administered in 2-week cycles. Cadonilimab is a novel bispecific antibody that targets both PD-1 and CTLA-4 immune checkpoint proteins. By blocking these checkpoints, it aims to enhance the immune system's ability to recognize and attack cancer cells. The combination therapy pairs immunotherapy (cadonilimab) with cytotoxic chemotherapy (mFOLFIRINOX) to potentially enhance anti-tumor efficacy through complementary mechanisms. This approach leverages direct cytotoxic effects on cancer cells from chemotherapy and immune system activation from immunotherapy. The treatment is typically administered in cycles, with mFOLFIRINOX given every 14 days. The specific schedule for cadonilimab administration in this combination is determined by clinical protocols.
