Caduceus S is a combination pharmaceutical product containing ademetionine (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) and silymarin, primarily indicated for the management of chronic liver diseases and intrahepatic cholestasis. Ademetionine serves as a universal methyl donor in transmethylation reactions and a precursor to glutathione via the transsulfuration pathway, thereby enhancing hepatic detoxification and maintaining cell membrane integrity. Silymarin, a flavonolignan complex extracted from milk thistle (Silybum marianum), provides potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects by scavenging free radicals, inhibiting lipid peroxidation, and stimulating ribosomal RNA polymerase I to promote hepatocyte regeneration.
