Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients, caffeic acid and dexamethasone. Caffeic acid is a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and potential antineoplastic properties. It has been studied for its effects on thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), depression models, bone health, and as an adjunct in immune-related conditions[1][3][5][7]. Dexamethasone is a synthetic fluorinated glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive actions. It is widely used to treat inflammatory disorders such as allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, certain cancers, and other conditions requiring suppression of the immune response[6][8][10]. The combination has been investigated in clinical settings for immune thrombocytopenia but did not show improved outcomes over dexamethasone alone[2]. Mechanistically, caffeic acid acts primarily through antioxidant pathways and modulation of neurotransmitters or inflammatory mediators; dexamethasone acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor to regulate gene expression involved in inflammation.
