Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of three active ingredients: - **Caffeic acid** is a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound found in many plants and foods. It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and potential immunomodulatory properties. - **Dexamethasone** is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with strong anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. It acts by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, modulating gene expression to suppress inflammation and immune responses. - **Prednisone** is another synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with similar but less potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive actions compared to dexamethasone. There are no known marketed pharmaceutical products that combine all three agents into a single formulation. However, studies have examined the co-administration of caffeine (a related methylxanthine) or caffeic acid derivatives with glucocorticoids like dexamethasone or prednisone for synergistic effects on surfactant protein expression in pulmonary cells[1]. Dexamethasone and prednisone are sometimes used sequentially or in combination for certain inflammatory conditions such as asthma exacerbations[6][10]. The mechanisms involve inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines, suppression of leukocyte infiltration, reduction of capillary permeability (for both steroids), while caffeic acid may exert additional antioxidant effects.
