Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Caffeinated coffee is a widely consumed beverage hypothesized to increase energy expenditure and lead to positive metabolic effects. It contains caffeine, a stimulant, and other bioactive compounds. Research has explored its potential role in modulating irisin levels, a hormone involved in energy metabolism, and its association with metabolic profiles in humans. A randomized trial (NCT00305097) investigated the effects of consuming 5 cups per day of instant caffeinated coffee on irisin levels and metabolic profiles in healthy, overweight coffee drinkers.
