Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CaffiCell is a plant stem cell extract derived from upcycled coffee biomass (spent coffee grounds), developed by the Latvian biotechnology company Alternative Plants. It is a bioactive-rich cosmetic ingredient containing caffeine, chlorogenic acid, catechin, theophylline, theobromine, and tannins. CaffiCell is designed for topical application in skin care products to provide anti-aging and antioxidant benefits. Its primary mechanisms include neutralizing free radicals to protect against oxidative stress and enhancing skin microcirculation to improve the delivery of oxygen and nutrients. These actions help to stimulate skin regeneration, reduce puffiness, and support cellular energy metabolism. The ingredient is currently marketed and used in commercial skincare formulations such as the Espréva facial serum.
