Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CagriSema is a fixed-dose combination of **cagrilintide** and **semaglutide**, developed by **Novo Nordisk** for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide is a well-established glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that enhances insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon release, and slows gastric emptying. Cagrilintide is a long-acting amylin analogue that acts as a non-selective agonist of both amylin and calcitonin receptors, contributing to increased satiety and reduced food intake. By combining these two mechanisms, CagriSema aims to achieve superior weight loss and glycemic efficacy compared to either component alone. It is currently being evaluated in the REDEFINE Phase 3 clinical trial program.
