Caine mix is a combination of three local anesthetic agents: **benzocaine**, **tetracaine hydrochloride**, and **dibucaine (cinchocaine) hydrochloride**. These are primarily ester- and amide-type local anesthetics which act by blocking **voltage-gated sodium channels** at the neuronal membrane, thereby inhibiting the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses that mediate pain and itching. Caine mix substances are commonly found in topical medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, for the relief of pain, itching, and stinging associated with conditions like cuts, burns, insect bites, hemorrhoids, rashes, and other minor skin irritations.
