Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CAL101 is a first-in-class monoclonal antibody developed by Calluna Pharma. It targets the S100A4 protein, a damage-associated molecular pattern (DAMP) protein. S100A4 is activated during tissue stress or injury and plays a crucial role in the pathological activation and proliferation of fibroblasts and the pro-fibrotic immune response, which contribute to inflammation and scar tissue formation. By neutralizing S100A4, CAL101 aims to suppress inflammatory and fibrotic signaling pathways and restore tissue homeostasis. It is currently under investigation for the treatment of various fibrotic and fibro-inflammatory diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), systemic sclerosis, and chronic plaque psoriasis.
