Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calbrit is a branded generic oral combination of calcium carbonate and cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) developed and marketed by Elbrit Life Sciences. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium and vitamin D3 deficiencies, as well as for supporting bone health in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and rickets. Calcium carbonate serves as an essential mineral supplement to maintain bone density and support skeletal structure, while cholecalciferol acts as a prohormone that is metabolized to calcitriol, which binds to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) to enhance the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphorus. Calbrit is also widely used as a nutritional supplement during pregnancy, lactation, and in elderly populations to maintain bone mineral density and prevent bone resorption.
