Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcifar Plus is an oral dietary supplement developed and manufactured by Farabi Pharmaceutical Company. Formulated as enteric-coated tablets, it contains a combination of essential minerals and vitamins, including calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), and vitamin K1 (phytomenadione). This combination is designed to support bone and teeth health, enhance bone matrix formation, and prevent bone loss associated with conditions like osteoporosis. Calcium and magnesium serve as critical structural components of bone, while zinc supports bone tissue repair and growth. Vitamin D3 promotes the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine and regulates bone mineralization through the activation of the vitamin D receptor (VDR). Vitamin K1 acts as an essential cofactor for gamma-glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX), facilitating the carboxylation and activation of osteocalcin, a key protein required for binding calcium to the bone matrix.
