Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcipex II is a water-based calcium hydroxide paste used primarily as a temporary intracanal medicament in root canal therapy. Its main active ingredient, calcium hydroxide, provides strong antimicrobial effects due to its high pH (around 12), which helps inhibit bacterial growth within the root canal system. The formulation also contains barium sulfate for radiopacity and propylene glycol as a solvent to enhance penetration and flowability. Calcipex II is premixed, stable at room temperature, and designed for easy application and removal during endodontic procedures. It is indicated for use as an intracanal dressing between appointments, temporary root canal filling, pulp capping in vital pulpotomy, and temporary pulp capping of exposed pulp[1][2][3][4].
