Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of calcipotriol (a synthetic vitamin D2 derivative) and cyclosporine (a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant). This combination has been studied for the treatment of severe chronic plaque psoriasis, showing greater efficacy than cyclosporine alone. The combination works through synergistic mechanisms - calcipotriol regulates skin cell growth and immune function while cyclosporine suppresses T-cell activity and inflammation. Clinical studies have shown that calcipotriol increases the immunosuppressive effects of cyclosporine, allowing for reduced cyclosporine dosage while maintaining or improving therapeutic efficacy.
