Overview

Calcipotriol + LEO 27989 is a topical combination therapy investigated for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. Calcipotriol (also known as calcipotriene) is a synthetic vitamin D3 analog that acts by binding to the vitamin D receptor, modulating gene transcription involved in cell differentiation and proliferation, and suppressing Th1/Th17-mediated inflammation in psoriatic lesions. LEO 27989 is an investigational small molecule developed by LEO Pharma; its precise mechanism of action has not been publicly disclosed but it has been studied for anti-psoriatic effects in combination with calcipotriol. The combination aims to enhance efficacy against immune-mediated skin diseases such as psoriasis vulgaris[2][3][4][5][6].
