Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcipro is a dental medical device consisting of a radiopaque calcium hydroxide powder, developed and manufactured by the German company lege artis Pharma. It is specifically designed for use in endodontics as an intracanal medicament during root canal treatments. The powder is typically mixed with a sterile liquid to create a paste of a desired consistency, which is then applied topically within the dental root canal system. Its therapeutic action is primarily mediated by the high alkalinity of calcium hydroxide (pH approximately 12.5), which exerts potent antimicrobial effects, aids in the dissolution of necrotic tissue remnants, and stimulates the formation of hard tissue barriers, such as in apexification or the treatment of root resorptions.
