Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcium + zinc gluconate is a combination mineral supplement containing both calcium gluconate and zinc gluconate. It is primarily used to treat or prevent deficiencies of both minerals, which are essential for various physiological functions. Calcium plays a critical role in bone health, nerve transmission, muscle function, and cellular signaling. Zinc is vital for immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis, and cell division. The combination may be indicated in conditions such as osteoporosis, rickets, osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease), tetany (muscle spasms due to low calcium), delayed growth in children due to deficiency states of either mineral, lack of appetite or anorexia related to deficiency states, recurrent oral ulcers (aphthous stomatitis), acne associated with deficiency states or supplementation needs during pregnancy/lactation or menopause[6]. Both components act as cofactors for numerous enzymes; their supplementation restores normal physiological processes when dietary intake is insufficient.
