Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcium bisglycinate is a highly bioavailable, chelated form of calcium in which a single calcium ion is bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. This chelation protects the calcium from binding to dietary inhibitors (such as phytates and oxalates) in the gastrointestinal tract, significantly improving its solubility and absorption compared to traditional calcium salts like calcium carbonate or calcium citrate. It is widely used as a dietary supplement and nutraceutical to support bone density, muscle function, and cardiovascular health, and to prevent or treat calcium deficiency and osteoporosis.
