Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Calcium carbonate + magnesium hydroxide + simethicone** is an over-the-counter combination antacid and antiflatulent medication used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, upset stomach, and gas-associated discomfort such as bloating and pressure. **Calcium carbonate** and **magnesium hydroxide** act as antacids by neutralizing excess gastric hydrochloric acid to raise stomach pH and alleviate acid-related symptoms, while **simethicone** (also known as dimethicone) reduces gas by lowering surface tension of bubbles in the stomach and intestines, promoting their coalescence and expulsion. Available in oral liquid (e.g., 1200 mg calcium carbonate, 270 mg magnesium hydroxide, 80 mg simethicone per 10 mL) and chewable tablet forms (e.g., 675 mg calcium carbonate, 135 mg magnesium hydroxide, 60 mg simethicone per tablet), it is indicated for adults and children 12 years and older, with dosing of 10-20 mL liquid or equivalent tablets between meals, at bedtime, or as directed, not exceeding maximum daily limits.[1][4]
