Calcium chloride is an inorganic ionic compound and mineral used primarily to treat or prevent hypocalcemia (low blood calcium levels), hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), and as an antidote for magnesium intoxication due to magnesium sulfate overdose. It is also indicated in cardiac resuscitation and the management of arrhythmias associated with electrolyte disturbances. Calcium chloride works by increasing plasma calcium concentrations; it provides essential ions for physiological processes such as muscle contraction (including cardiac muscle), nerve function transmission of impulses across synapses and neuromuscular junctions[1][2][3][4]. It does not have a single developer since it is a generic compound widely produced by various manufacturers.
