Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Calcium chloride + potassium chloride + sodium chloride + sodium lactate + dextrose** is a sterile intravenous crystalloid and carbohydrate combination solution corresponding to Lactated Ringer's with dextrose. It is used as a parenteral source of water, electrolytes, and calories, and also exerts an alkalinizing effect because lactate is metabolized to bicarbonate. The product is used for extracellular fluid replacement, electrolyte replenishment, and limited caloric support in adults and pediatric patients who require intravenous hydration or resuscitative support. It is a multi-ingredient small molecule formulation rather than a target-directed therapy, with pharmacologic activity arising from restoration of circulating fluid volume, sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, and buffer precursor balance rather than interaction with a discrete molecular target.
