Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcium gluconate + sodium chloride is a ready-to-use (RTU) intravenous injection developed by Jiangsu Yayao Biotech for the treatment of acute symptomatic hypocalcemia. Calcium gluconate serves as a calcium replenisher, providing essential calcium ions (Ca2+) necessary for the maintenance of the functional integrity of the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems, as well as cell membrane and capillary permeability. The addition of sodium chloride ensures the solution is isotonic. This RTU formulation is designed to improve safety and efficiency in clinical settings by eliminating the need for manual dilution, thereby reducing the risk of medication errors and contamination. It is approved in China for the management of conditions requiring rapid increases in serum calcium levels, such as hypocalcemic tetany.
