Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcium Sandoz is a mineral and vitamin supplement formulated primarily as effervescent tablets or oral solutions for the prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency. It contains a combination of different highly soluble forms of calcium salts—most commonly including calcium lactate gluconate and/or calcium carbonate. Some formulations may also include other salts such as calcium glubionate or colecalciferol (vitamin D3). Calcium is an essential mineral required for bone formation and maintenance; it plays critical roles in nerve transmission, muscle contraction, blood clotting, hormone secretion, and various metabolic processes. The product is indicated for use in conditions such as osteoporosis (especially in the elderly), rickets (in children), osteomalacia (in adults), general states of hypocalcemia due to dietary insufficiency or increased physiological need (e.g., pregnancy/lactation/elderly). In some markets or specific products under the "Calcium Sandoz" name, vitamin D3 may be included to enhance intestinal absorption of calcium[1][2][4][5][6].
