Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calcow-K2 is a branded generic nutritional supplement marketed by Wellmed Pharma, an Indian pharmaceutical company. It is a finished-dose formulation typically composed of Calcium, Vitamin K2 (often as Menaquinone-7), and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). The product is designed to support bone health and mineral density. Calcium provides the essential structural component for bone formation, while Vitamin D3 enhances its intestinal absorption. Vitamin K2 plays a critical role in bone metabolism by activating osteocalcin, a protein required to bind calcium to the bone matrix, and activating matrix GLA protein to prevent calcium deposition in the vascular system. It is primarily used for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, osteopenia, and calcium or vitamin deficiencies.
