Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CALFO-K2 is a branded generic combination product developed by ADN Life Sciences, primarily indicated for the management of bone health and the treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, such as osteoporosis and osteopenia. The formulation typically combines calcium (often as calcium citrate malate), calcitriol (the active form of vitamin D3), and menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2-7), along with minerals like magnesium and zinc. Calcium serves as a fundamental building block for bone tissue, while calcitriol acts as a vitamin D receptor agonist to enhance intestinal calcium absorption and regulate bone mineralization. Vitamin K2-7 plays a critical role in bone metabolism by serving as a cofactor for the carboxylation of osteocalcin, a protein required to bind calcium to the bone matrix, thereby improving bone mineral density and reducing the risk of vascular calcification. The product is marketed in India as part of ADN Life Sciences' PCD (Propaganda Cum Distribution) franchise portfolio.
