Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calgard (also marketed as Colguard) is an enteric-coated capsule formulation of peppermint oil (*Mentha x piperita*) developed by Laboratoires Holistica and licensed and manufactured by Arian Salamat Sina. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain, indigestion, and spasms, particularly in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The enteric coating prevents the release of peppermint oil in the stomach, thereby avoiding common side effects like heartburn, and ensures targeted delivery to the intestines where it exerts local antispasmodic effects by relaxing gastrointestinal smooth muscle.
