Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Calmotusin is a leading phytotherapy brand developed for the symptomatic relief of cough and respiratory discomfort associated with the common cold and upper respiratory tract infections. Originally developed by the Romanian company Dacia Plant, the brand was integrated into the portfolio of the Belgian pharmaceutical company Ceres Pharma following its acquisition of Dacia Plant in 2022. The product line, which includes syrups and tablets, utilizes a polyherbal formulation containing various plant extracts and essential oils. These components are selected for their synergistic effects, providing antitussive, expectorant, and demulcent properties to soothe irritated mucous membranes and facilitate the clearance of bronchial secretions. It is particularly prominent in the Romanian over-the-counter (OTC) market.
