Calock Plus

Calock Plus is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication developed and marketed by Medimet Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh. It contains two active ingredients: amlodipine besilate (5 mg), a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, and atenolol (50 mg), a cardioselective beta-blocker. Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to peripheral vasodilation and reduced systemic vascular resistance. Atenolol selectively antagonizes beta-1 adrenergic receptors, resulting in decreased heart rate, reduced cardiac output, and lowered plasma renin activity. This dual mechanism provides a synergistic effect for the management of hypertension, effectively lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications such as heart attack and stroke.
