Overview

CalRexin is a PET (Positron Emission Tomography) imaging agent being developed by Apop Biosciences for the non-invasive monitoring of cancer therapy response. It utilizes a proprietary monoclonal antibody technology that targets the human calcitonin receptor (CTR). CTR is typically sequestered within cells but relocates to the cell surface during periods of cell stress and programmed cell death, including apoptosis and autophagy. By binding to these surface-expressed receptors, CalRexin allows for whole-body imaging of cell death, potentially providing a sensitive tool to evaluate treatment efficacy without the need for invasive biopsies.
