Overview

CALY-002 is a fully humanized monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin-15 (IL-15). It acts as an IL-15 inhibitor, preventing IL-15 from interacting with its receptor and thereby blocking downstream signaling involved in immune activation. The drug is administered intravenously and is being developed primarily for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis, celiac disease, and atopic dermatitis. CALY-002 has shown potent inhibition of IL-15 activity in preclinical models and is positioned as a potential paradigm-changing therapy for gastrointestinal and other immune-mediated diseases with high unmet need. The drug was originally developed by Calypso Biotech (a subsidiary of Novartis) and originated from iDD Biotech[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
