Proteostasis, or protein homeostasis, refers to the cellular mechanisms responsible for the synthesis, folding, trafficking, and degradation of proteins. The decline of these processes is considered a hallmark of aging and is a key driver in the pathogenesis of various conditions where misfolded or aggregated proteins accumulate. CAM-5747 is specifically being investigated for the treatment of autoimmune and rare diseases, aiming to restore cellular health by modulating these proteostatic networks. As of 2024, the program is in the lead optimization phase of preclinical development.
