Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CAM4071 is a subcutaneous depot formulation of the somatostatin analogue pasireotide, developed by Camurus using proprietary FluidCrystal® technology for long-acting release over at least one month. It provides high bioavailability with rapid initial release and sustained plasma concentrations, demonstrating dose-proportional pharmacokinetics and effective suppression of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) comparable to pasireotide long-acting release (LAR), particularly at doses above 5 mg. Pasireotide, the active ingredient, is a second-generation somatostatin receptor agonist approved for Cushing's disease and acromegaly; CAM4071 aims to improve convenience through ready-to-use subcutaneous injection in the thigh or buttock, with good tolerability up to 40 mg doses in healthy volunteers.[1][3][5]
