Overview

CAM4072 is a once-weekly, long-acting subcutaneous depot formulation of setmelanotide, a melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) agonist. Developed by Rhythm Pharmaceuticals in partnership with Camurus, it utilizes Camurus' proprietary FluidCrystal® technology to provide sustained release of the peptide. Setmelanotide targets the MC4R pathway, which is critical for regulating energy expenditure and appetite. CAM4072 is being developed for the treatment of rare genetic obesity disorders, including Bardet-Biedl syndrome and Alström syndrome, aiming to improve patient compliance and adherence compared to the daily subcutaneous formulation (Imcivree).
