CAMK2D shRNA is a short hairpin RNA therapeutic candidate designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the CAMK2D (Calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II delta) isoform. In the context of glioblastoma (GBM), CAMK2D has been identified as a key effector of spontaneous calcium waves that drive tumor growth. By utilizing RNA interference to reduce CAMK2D mRNA levels, this shRNA impairs the clonogenic potential and tumorsphere formation of patient-derived glioblastoma cultures. Research conducted at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine suggests that CAMK2D knockdown significantly reduces tumor growth, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for primary brain malignancies.
