Overview

Camrelizumab is a humanized IgG4 kappa monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor, an immune checkpoint expressed on T cells and other immune cells. By binding to PD-1, camrelizumab blocks its interaction with its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby preventing tumor-induced immune suppression. This blockade reinvigorates T-cell activity against cancer cells, leading to antitumor effects. Camrelizumab has demonstrated efficacy in several malignancies and is approved in China for hepatocellular carcinoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. It is under investigation globally for additional indications including unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma[1][2][3][5][6].
