This combination regimen is a neoadjuvant therapy being investigated for the treatment of stage II-III triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). It is the subject of a Phase II clinical trial (NCT05447702) sponsored by West China Hospital. The regimen combines the anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody camrelizumab with the small molecule VEGFR-2 tyrosine kinase inhibitor apatinib and a standard chemotherapy backbone consisting of nab-paclitaxel followed by epirubicin and cyclophosphamide. The rationale for this combination is to synergize the immune-potentiating effects of PD-1 blockade with the anti-angiogenic and tumor microenvironment-modulating effects of VEGFR inhibition, alongside the direct cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy, to improve pathological complete response rates in patients with aggressive TNBC.
