Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The term **Can be any registered nonpegylated form of G-CSF** refers to a target-specific generic category of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSF) that have not undergone PEGylation. In clinical trials, such as the Phase 2 AMD3100-EU23 trial evaluating plerixafor (AMD3100) for stem cell mobilization, this designation allows investigators to use any approved non-pegylated G-CSF formulation (most commonly filgrastim, marketed as Neupogen) as the standard mobilization backbone. G-CSF acts as an agonist at the G-CSF receptor (CSF3R) on hematopoietic progenitor cells in the bone marrow, stimulating their proliferation, differentiation, and mobilization into the peripheral blood. This class of biologics is widely used to mobilize hematopoietic stem cells prior to autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with hematological malignancies, as well as to treat chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
